GOODWELL, Okla. – The Ranger football team had no problem with Oklahoma Panhandle State in the season finale 68-28 win in Goodwell, as the Rangers rolled up 571 yards of offense.
The Rangers led 49-14 at the half and scored 19 third quarter points, before both teams were held scoreless in the fourth. Northwestern’s defense held OPSU scoreless the entire second half.
Northwestern’s defense allowed just 277 yards, including just 59 rushing yards for the Aggies.
Kyle Jech threw for five touchdown passes while completing 11-of-20 passes for 219 yards. Kent McDonald caught three passes for 61 yards and two touchdowns for two touchdowns, while Korey Williams, Nate Guillory and Brady Wardlaw all had touchdown receptions. Guillory also had 213 yards and three rushing touchdowns on 18 carries. Courtney Jones picked up a touchdown on 112 yards and Jech scored a rushing TD of his own.
Guillory’s 236 rushes set a new record for most rushes in a season, breaking the previous record of 233 set by Royce Coleman in 1981.
Northwestern finished the season at 7-3 overall and at 5-0 in the Central States Football League. The Rangers will lose seven seniors to graduation.
