ALVA – The Ranger men’s basketball team made easy work of Paul Quinn (Tex.) on Friday night, downing them 79-37 at the Aaron Sales and Lease/Ranger Basketball Classic.
Northwestern held Paul Quinn to 24 percent shooting in the opening half, while holding the Tigers to just nine points for the first 13 minutes of the game. The Rangers held a 43-16 halftime lead, their biggest lead in the first half.
The Rangers continued their dominance in the second half, with their largest lead of half with under two minutes remaining, up 44 points.
Five players reached double digits, as Marshall Bell and Orren Tims tied for the game-high of 15 points. Bell added five three-pointers, while Daryl Glover had five assists. Jonathan Freemyer and Glover both scored 11 points each, as Devondrick Walker scored 10.
Collectively, the Rangers shot 41 percent from the field and shot even better from three-point range at 48 percent (13-of-27). Northwestern pounded the boards, with 56 rebounds, as the opposition had 39.
Northwestern (3-0) will play the final game of the Aaron Sales and Lease/Ranger Basketball Classic at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13 at Percefull Fieldhouse as they host Friends (Kan.). Paul Quinn (Tex.) and St. Gregory’s is set to tipoff prior, starting at 5 p.m. On Friday night, St. Gregory’s downed Friends, 85-74.
