    December 2, 2014 -- Northwestern Oklahoma State University will be well represented on Alva’s downtown square Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. for the annual First Friday Art Walk events.Three seniors in Northwestern’s Studio Art program will be showing their artwork at a Pop Up Gallery in the Knox Building on the north side of the square at 428 Flynn. Hanson Long of Waynoka, Natalie Malone of Moundridge, Kan., and Rabi Tamrakar from Kavre, Nepal, are the featured artists for their Senior Thesis Exhibition

  • 11th annual NWOSU Art Society Art Show begins March 10

    March 4, 2014 -- The 11th annual Northwestern Oklahoma State University Art Society (NAS) Art Show opens Monday, March 10, in the J.W. Martin Library in Alva and runs through March 29. The show is free and open to the public during the library’s normal operating hours. Some of the artwork submitted includes photographs, paintings, drawings, jewelry and crocheted items.

  • NWOSU Art Society Art Show entry deadline Feb. 28

    February 24, 2014 -- Friday, Feb.28, is the deadline for artists to enter the 11th annual Northwestern Oklahoma State University Art Society Art Show set for March 10-29 at the J.W. Martin Library in Alva. More than $700 in prize money is available to Northwestern students who enter their artwork and win. The art show is open to all Northwestern students, employees, retired employees and alumni. An online entry form is available at www.nwosu.edu/art-show-form.

    December 9, 2013  -- Art comes in many forms, and Northwestern Oklahoma State University Art Society (NAS) members have a project they would like to do, but will need a little help from the community with their chosen medium. Members have decided to create a wall art piece using recycled materials, specifically lids.

  • Winning artwork on display at Runnymede Friday for Art Walk

    April 2, 2013 -- More than 100 pieces of the best artwork from the 10th annual Northwestern Oklahoma State University Art Society Art Show will be on display from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 5, at the Runnymede Hotel in downtown Alva during the annual First Friday Art Walk festivities. The event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served by the Nescatunga Ladies.

    March 11, 2013 -- More than 300 pieces of artwork are now on display through March 30 in the Northwestern Oklahoma State University J.W. Martin Library in Alva for the 10th annual NWOSU Art Society Art Show. Twenty-one students and 15 employees/retired employees/alumni are displaying their talents, including a mother/daughter alumni pair from the Kansas City area.

  • 10th art show to challenge exhibitors' creative side

    February 8, 2013 -- To celebrate the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Art Society's 10th year, club members are challenging all exhibitors to use a little extra creativity in their work this year and have set a show theme of “Creativity Takes Courage – Celebrating the Arts: Honoring a Decade of NWOSU Art Society.” Entry forms, both printed and online, must be submitted no later than Feb. 27 with all physical art pieces being due in the Media Center, second floor of J.W. Martin Library, no later than March 6. The show opens to the viewing public March 9 in the library.

  • Benefit Bake sale for Bradley planned for June 2; other fundraisers planned

    May 29, 2012 -- A Benefit Bake Sale for Bradley Gilbert, a 2007 Northwestern Oklahoma State University mass communications graduate from Enid, is planned by the NWOSU Art Society (NAS) for Saturday, June 2, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in front of Holder Drug in downtown Alva. Gilbert has been fighting leukemia since shortly after his graduation from Northwestern.

  • Photos, drawing, paper dress win top honors; Items showing at Runnymede Monday, Tuesday

    April 27, 2012 -- Two photographs, a drawing and a dress made from recycled newspapers earned the top awards during the Ninth Annual Northwestern Oklahoma State University Art Society (NAS) Art Show. These items and other winning entries will be displayed in a special show at the Runnymede Hotel on April 30 and May 1, which is free and open to the public. A reception for artists and the public will be Monday, April 30, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

    A holiday gift store just for kids – that’s what the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Art Society (NAS) members have planned for Dec. 11 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Student Center Ranger Room. Photos with Santa also are planned that day, and NAS members welcome the young and not-so young to take part.

    A unique opportunity is scheduled for Alva and area youngsters on Dec. 11 at Northwestern Oklahoma State University – a Holiday Gift Store set up just for kids in the Student Center Ranger Room from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The NWOSU Art Society (NAS) is offering the gift store as a way for children to be able to purchase holiday gifts for loved ones, friends and pets without having to spend a lot of money.

  • NWOSU Art Society shaking up annual art show; new categories, alumni can enter, entries due April 7

    The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Art Society members decided to shake things up a bit with a few category changes prior to the 7th annual NAS Art Show coming up April 10-24 in the J.W. Martin Library on the Alva campus. Members voted to make changes to the list of entry categories, add a few new ones, and also decided to accept entries from Northwestern alumni. Entries also are accepted from current and retired employees of the university, as well as Northwestern students. All registration forms are due back to the Media Center, second floor of the library, by April 7, 5 p.m.

  • Bike Decorating Contest for kids new for NWOSU Homecoming Parade

    The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Art Society is teaming up with the Homecoming Committee to bring a free bicycle decorating contest to the children of the area for Saturday’s Homecoming parade, which begins at 10 a.m.
