Northwestern Rodeo Places Seventh at Pratt

Northwestern Rodeo Places Seventh at PrattPRATT, Kan. – Northwestern’s men’s rodeo team took a seventh place finish at the Pratt Community College rodeo on Oct. 1-3. The Rangers scored 190 points, while Oklahoma Panhandle State won the event with 725 points.

 

James Burkholder finished in a tie for eighth place in saddle bronc riding with a 126, while Trey Young took ninth in tie down roping with a 22.6.

 

Three Rangers placed in steer wrestling, as Trenton Johnson led the way with a 9.1, putting him in second place. Kody Woodward finished with a 10.0, giving him a fourth place finish, while Clint Kindred was eighth.

 

In team roping, the duo of Chase Boekhaus and Dawson McMaster took second place with a 13.9. Reagan Ward finished seventh with header Andrew Ward from Western Oklahoma State College.

 

On the women’s side, four cowgirls placed for Northwestern.

 

Gabriel Gregg finished with a time of 34.26 in barrel racing for fifth place and Kesley Pontius placed ninth with a 34.32.

 

Karly Benzie tied for seventh in breakaway roping and Jade Inlow was fifth in goat tying.

 

The Ranger rodeo team will be in action on Oct. 7-9 at the Southeastern Oklahoma State University rodeo, before hosting its own rodeo on Nov. 4-6.
