SHAWNEE – Northwestern’s soccer team fell 5-1 to Oklahoma Baptist University in the final road trip of the regular season at Shawnee on Tuesday.
Oklahoma Baptist used three goals within the first 28 minutes to jump to a 3-0 halftime lead.
Both offenses were idle until the last seven minutes of the game, when three more goals were scored. Ashley Strack scored her first goal of the season during the 84th minute, as she took the carom off Christina Nunez’s shot on goal for an unassisted score.
OBU scored three minutes later and again with 18 seconds to go in the game, upping to up the score to 5-1.
The Rangers took 13 shots, with eight landing on goal. Christina Nunez took five shots, Brianne Brown fired three and five players each had a shot.
For the Bison, they shot 22 times, landing 15 shots on goal. Kelsey Archer was able to come up with 10 saves, while her record in goal fell to 6-10.
The Rangers (6-10, 3-6) host Rogers State in Alva at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30. The Rangers currently sit in eighth place in the Sooner Athletic Conference with a 3-6 record. Eight teams will advance to the SAC soccer playoffs.
