ALVA – Christina Nunez' fourth goal of the season during the 58th minute was the only offense in the Rangers 1-0 shutout of St. Gregory’s in soccer action at the Alva Rec. Complex on Saturday, Oct. 23.
Nunez last of four shots was the game winner, as Cathy Wabenga assisted, lifting Northwestern over St. Gregory’s for the Rangers third shutout of the season and second shutout in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
The Rangers owned the first half, shooting 14 times with the wind and holding SGU to not a single shot. SGU got off eight shots in the second half, as NWOSU fired six shots.
Seven of the Rangers 20 shots landed on goal, while Kelsey Archer was credited with four saves on the afternoon.
Northwestern (6-9, 3-5) heads to Shawnee on Tuesday, Oct. 26 to play Oklahoma Baptist in a 3 p.m. game.
