ALVA, Okla. – The Lady Ranger basketball team battled back from a 13-point deficit in the second half on Saturday night to defeat John Brown (Ark.) 70-64 in Percefull Fieldhouse.
After falling behind by 12 points at the half and being down 39-26 just after the start of the second half, Northwestern put together a 13-4 run to come within four points of the Lady Golden Eagles. JBU took the advantage back to lead by as much as 10 points, before Northwestern tied the game for the second time at the 3:25 mark.
Autumn Klugh kicked in six points off of free throws, while Mandy Norman added a free throw of her own, spurring the Rangers to the six-point victory.
Collectively, Northwestern hit 29 percent from the floor, but shot 41 percent (7-of-17) from three. NWOSU was solid in free throws, canning 23-of-25. Klugh led Northwestern with 19 points, nine of which were free shots. Audrey Richmond chipped in 14 points as Claudia Vazquez scored 13.
The Lady Rangers held John Brown to 28 percent from the floor, 30 percent from three and to 13-of-21 from the free throw line.
Northwestern (8-5, 2-3) heads to Claremore on Monday night to take on Rogers State University in a 6 p.m. SAC matchup.
